Net SqlClient Data Provider Login failed for user 'FrameworkUser'. Im still unable to connect to the DB using authentication, I am still able to connect using a trusted connection Here are the connectionstrings im trying to use: Trusted (works fine) : Server=ServerName Database=FrameworkDB Trusted_Connection=yes Authenticated (doesn't work) : Server=ServerName Database=FrameworkDB User ID='FrameworkUser' Password='1234' Here's the error I'm getting. After reading it i realised I needed to switch the Server to Mixed authentication mode, so i went ahead and did that then restarted the server.

After testing this with no luck i got on here a read a few more posts and ended up on a ScottyGu blog. I created a User in the Security section of the DB im trying to connect to and pointed to the "FrameworkLogin" Login I created in the last step. Loginname : FrameworkLogin Password: 1234 2.

I created a Login is SSMS and gave it a password and unchecked Enforce Password policy (just for now to eliminate problems), i left everything else default. The steps i did to create the username was as follows. However when i try to connect using SQL authentication it fails. When I run the site using Visual Studio 2008 with a trusted connection it connects just fine and i have no problems. The SQLDB is located on a server on my LAN. I have an ASP.Net website that accesses an SQL database.
